TTC, BBT, POAS and more...

When a person is not thinking about having a family, pregnancy is something we try to avoid and sometimes fear, something that can happen to us if we're not careful. However, when you are ready to have a family & you learn about what it takes to bring a life into this world - it becomes amazing that it happens at all.

I highly recommend watching PBS's "Life's Greatest Miracle" it makes you realize how special each newborn baby is.

In my research of & understanding my own fertility I gained a sense of a lot of new lingo "TTC" Trying to Conceive, POAS - Pee On a Stick (go figure). BBT's - your Basal Body Temperature are taken close to the same time each morning , just as you wake up - and it can help you track your own fertility cycle, and you can actually see when your body ovulates even though you cannot feel it. Why didn't we ever learn about this before!?

The month we did conceive I did not think it was "the" month & I was already preparing myself for my game plan for the next month.

Two symptoms (even though some people will argue that you cannot feel anything early on) that made me suspect that maybe something did in fact happen, the day before my positive test I felt a slight but long-lasting twinge in my lower abdomen that didn't move around, didn't hurt, and I definitely never felt a sensation like that before. That night while exercising, I was proud of myself for finally getting myself back up to my previous level of strength, however in the cardio portion - I couldn't even finish I was so out of breath I felt like I was going to pass out.

The next morning when I took my temperature it was a full .4 degrees higher than any of my previous temperatures - I took a CVS pregnancy test and saw the faintest blue line. Due to inclement weather I stayed home & waited 4 hours, drove to CVS bought 2 more better quality brands of tests (Answer & First Response) and got 2 much clearer positives! Totally amazed and ... totally in denial.

3 days later I took yet another test which was much darker due to the increase in HCG .
